Three Man Cannon formed in the young, tight-knit DIY community of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Growing up amongst incredible artists ranging from The Menzingers to Kite Party to Captain We’re Sinking to Tigers Jaw, Three Man Cannon were surrounded by an incredible amount of talented musicians in a small town until they (and most of the scene) moved to Philadelphia. In 2014, the band released their brilliant Lame-O Records debut, Pretty Many People. It was an album that “returned indie pop to form,” according to Noisey, bringing K Records indie rock into the Philly basement scene.
Three Man Cannon’s follow up record Will I Know You Then showcased the evolved sound of Three Man Cannon, a sound that’s been in the making for the better part of a decade. Playing together since high school in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Three Man Cannon have gone from the folk-infused punk rock to the Sparklehorse-meets-Neil Young indie rock of this 2015 Lame-O Records release. The album features the poetic songwriting of primary vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Matt Schimelfenig juxtaposed against the moody crooning of drummer/vocalist Pat Brier (“Coma’d,” “Mood”).
