My favorite mixtape, all worn out, the top corners popped in so you can't record over it, and the tape torn so many times from the
rusty old buick's tape deck that I must have spliced and taped it back to playable format so many times over. Yet, it is still my
favorite mixtape from the days when you would buy a package of blank cassettes and make the best mix tape possible with the
sounds of classic rock radio, new wave dance clubs, hair metal bars, punk rock dives, and sticky sweet bubble gum sounds of
power pop and glam rock. Yes, sticky like the melted bubble gum on a summer afternoon street corner that stuck to the sole of
your chucks. Stuck somewhere between Material Issue, Best Kissers In The World, Fudge, Flop, The Fluid, Redd Kross, The
Meices, The Muffs, MTX, and The Plimsouls, there would be The Cheap Cassettes. Their latest release 'Kiss The Ass Of My Heart'
is just that, a rollercoaster ride of power pop adrenaline, sticky sweet bubble gum, and glam punk agnst. Keep that finger
close to the rewind button.
The Cheap Cassettes have joined the ranks of like minded power pop/punk rock Pacific Northwest bands like The Exploding Hearts,
The Briefs, King Louieās Missing Monuments, Flop, The Lemons, The Riffs, The Cute Lepers, and Best Kissers In The World.
